Executive Board Opportunities ....
The PTA Board guides the association to establish and achieve goals for the year.  Each board member is an important part of the leadership team.  The team works together to coordinate people and activities to achieve the local PTA's goal for the youth in the school community.  The PTA Board is comprised of the Executive Committee (elected officers), past president and committee chairs.

President
  • Direct the business of the association in cooperation with the other members of the executive committee and executive board
  • Attend PTA/HSA President's Council meetings as a representative of the Bay Trail PTA
Vice-President
  • May be called upon at any time to assume temporarily the place of the president
  • presides at meetings in the absence of the president
  • acts as aide to the president and assumes responsibility for duties assigned by the president
  • usually assumes the position of President the following year
  • Usually participates on the nominating committee and budget committee in the spring
Treasurer
  • Receives, records and disburses all money as prescribed in the by-laws
  • presents financial statements for audit
  • presents a written statement at each general meeting of the association
  • keeps records of membership dues paid to state and national PTA's
  • pays insurance premium for organization by June 1
Recording Secretary:
  • Record and maintain a permanent file of all meetings of the association, executive board and the executive committee;
  • Maintain a permanent file of the committee reports, membership lists, and records pertaining to the work of the association;
  • Keep a current copy of the state approved bylaws
Corresponding Secretary:
  • Send the names and addresses of the elected officers to the region director immediately following their election 
  • Send cards on PTA’s behalf (sympathy, retirement, congratulations, etc.)
  • Send thank you notes on PTA letterhead to PTA Business Members and to donators who are not members
  • Keep a record of correspondence to turnover to next year’s Corresponding Secretary.
