Enrichment Energy!
Do you remember that Enrichment is for everyone? October provided Explorations on the topics of Fractured Fairy Tales, Improvisational Theatre, Latin American Heritage, and Japanese Logic puzzles during students’ FLEX periods. Some of these, as well as new topics will again be available during Spring Explorations.
Enrichment teacher Karen Graham noted, “Twelve students across all three houses enjoyed sharing their stories during their Author’s Celebration at the conclusion of the Fractured Fairy Tales Exploration. There were snacks, laughter, and a sense of accomplishment as students took pride in using new writing techniques such as irony and figurative language.”
In November students will have an opportunity to participate in a musical theatre workshop with one of the cast members from Rochester Broadway Theater League’s production of Hamilton! And in December students can sign up for a field trip to Garth Fagan Dance.
Genius Hour is always available to anyone who has a passion and wants to create a project to explore it more deeply. GHs are held during FLEX periods for a self-selected amount of time; maybe a week, a month, or all year! Students will meet with an Enrichment teacher to plan a project and create a schedule, and then they’re off! Applications are available outside each House’s Enrichment room.
